Antigua and Barbuda<\/a><\/strong> is actively pursuing new air services agreements with several key international markets, including Saudi Arabia, Panama, Italy, China, Japan, and India, as part of its broader strategy to enhance global connectivity and boost tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tourism and Aviation Minister Charles Fernandez highlighted these efforts during a parliamentary session, emphasizing the government’s commitment to expanding its network of bilateral aviation agreements.<\/p>

These agreements, he noted, are crucial for fostering economic growth by facilitating increased airline operations, enhancing tourism, and creating more travel options for Antiguans and international visitors.<\/p>

“We are currently in negotiations with Saudi Arabia and Panama, and we are also looking at expanding our agreements to include major Asian markets such as China, Japan, and India,” Fernandez stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“These partnerships are vital as we continue to position Antigua and Barbuda<\/a><\/strong> as a premier travel hub in the Caribbean.”<\/p>

The agreements would grant airlines from both Antigua and Barbuda and the respective partner countries the ability to operate scheduled flights, including direct and multi-stop services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also aim to encourage investment in the aviation sector while ensuring compliance with international safety and security standards.<\/p>

Fernandez noted that Antigua and Barbuda has already established air service agreements with a range of countries, including Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Rwanda, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. <\/p>

A preliminary agreement has also been signed with the United States, with further negotiations underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The global trend in aviation is moving toward liberalization and commercial flexibility, and we want to ensure that Antigua and Barbuda remains at the forefront of these developments,” Fernandez added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion of air service agreements aligns with the government\u2019s vision to strengthen Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s tourism industry and improve accessibility for travelers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With growing interest from non-traditional markets, these agreements could open new opportunities for trade, business travel, and investment in the country\u2019s aviation infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
