After 19 hours of search by land and sea no sign of Antigua Fishermen Missing At Sea<\/strong><\/p>

The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force<\/a> (ABDF) Coast Guard<\/a> is leading ongoing search and rescue operations for the missing fishing vessel FV MOYA and its three-man crew, which was reported overdue on Saturday, 22nd February 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crew members\u2014Captain Mathias Greenaway, Glenmore Matthew, and Clancy Samuel\u2014departed Market Wharf in Antigua on Friday, 21st February, at approximately 1:00 PM. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

They were scheduled to return by 8:00 AM on Saturday after fishing between Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Upon receiving the distress report, the ABDF Coast Guard<\/a> immediately escalated the situation to the distress phase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A PAN-PAN marine broadcast was aired over VHF Channel 16 to alert mariners in the surrounding area to the emergency.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The missing vessel, FV MOYA, is a 30-foot fishing boat with a grey hull and white superstructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite challenging sea conditions and a high surf advisory over the weekend, which hampered search efforts, ABDF Coast Guard teams have been working around the clock. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The search operation has involved a coordinated effort by sea and air, with assets deployed by the ABDF Coast Guard, St. Kitts and Nevis Coast Guard, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard<\/a>, as well as the ABDF Air Wing and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) Fort-de-France.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

As of today, more than nineteen hours of cumulative search time have been spent combing the waters in an effort to locate the missing vessel and crew. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The search continues despite the unfavorable sea conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Acting Executive Officer of the ABDF, Lieutenant (Naval) Trish Lake, at 268-729-5802, or the Coast Guard hotline at 268-462-3206, 462-2841\/2\/3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ABDF and its partners remain fully committed to locating FV MOYA and ensuring the safe return of her crew. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are also urging all mariners to adhere to safe operating procedures and regulations to avoid similar incidents in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The public is reassured that all available resources are being utilized to bring the crew home safely, and the ABDF remains hopeful that the search will yield positive results soon.<\/p>\n
