City South Municipal Foundation Inc., a nonprofit\u00a0 organization registered in Antigua & Barbuda is proud to announce the launch of \u201cGreen\u00a0 Lots Initiative<\/a><\/strong>,\u201d an innovative program designed to foster entrepreneurship while\u00a0 revitalizing the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative provides landscape entrepreneurs with access to discounted landscaping equipment rentals in exchange for their commitment to cleaning and maintaining vacant lots throughout Antigua and Barbuda, starting in the St. John\u2019s City South community.\u00a0<\/p>

The Green Lots Initiative aims to address two critical community challenges: providing\u00a0 support for aspiring landscaping entrepreneurs and improving the appearance and safety of\u00a0 neglected properties. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

By combining these goals, the program creates a win-win scenario that promotes local economic growth and environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a study done in Philadelphia by Columbia University Mailman School of Public  Health, cleaning up vacant lots lead to less crime, more socializing outdoors and increased  perceptions of safety in the surrounding neighborhood. <\/p>

How It Works: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Support for landscaping entrepreneurs: <\/strong>New and aspiring business owners in the  landscaping and property maintenance sector can rent professional-grade equipment at  significantly reduced rates through the program. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Community Impact: <\/strong>In exchange for these discounted rentals, participants are tasked with  cleaning and beautifying vacant lots identified by the City South Municipal Foundation Inc. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Long-Term Benefits: <\/strong>The initiative encourages skill-building and business growth while  transforming unused spaces into cleaner, safer, and more attractive areas for community  use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur vision with Green Lots Initiative is to empower micro business owners while\u00a0 simultaneously improving our neighborhoods,\u201d said Franz deFreitas Executive Director of\u00a0 the City South Municipal Foundation Inc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis program demonstrates that collaboration\u00a0 and creativity can solve multiple community challenges at once.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the discounted equipment rentals, the City South Municipal Foundation Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

will provide participants with resources such as training workshops, networking\u00a0 opportunities, referrals and guidance on growing their businesses.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Green Lots<\/strong> Initiative is made possible through the generous support from community\u00a0 partners and local sponsors committed to fostering entrepreneurship and community\u00a0 development.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial pieces of equipment have already been donated by Paddy Simon of Simon Small\u00a0 Engine and Repairs <\/strong>and the Living in Peace Platform<\/strong>, an Antiguan and Barbudan family\u00a0 group living in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The equipment will be cared for and regularly serviced and\u00a0 maintained by Paddy Simon of Simon Small Engine and Repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Landscaping equipment of\u00a0 any kind, new and gently used are being kindly solicited from those who can donate to our nonprofit organization at home and in the diaspora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is now accepting applications from eligible entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
