Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett, recognised Grenada\u2019s commitment to regional integration as the nation celebrates its 51st Independence Anniversary under the theme \u201cThe Next 50: Embracing a Future of Development, Transformation and Unity<\/em>.\u201dDr. Barnett highlighted Grenada\u2019s significant contributions to advance Science and Technology, including Information and Communications, in CARICOM and emphasised Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell\u2019s leadership in achieving the region\u2019s sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Secretary-General noted that this year\u2019s theme reflects the progressive spirit of the Grenadian people; a key factor in their past achievements that will be the impetus of their future progress.<\/p>

Commending the country\u2019s unwavering pursuit of climate justice, the Secretary-General lauded its resilience in recovering from the severe impacts of Hurricane Beryl and called it \u201cexemplary.\u201d\u201c<\/p>

We stand united in advocating for an international legal framework to hold major polluters accountable for global warming, and to secure the necessary resources for our survival and sustainable development,\u201d Dr Barnett stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
