Despite his defeat in the St. Peter byelection, George Wehner, a local advocate, continues his efforts to address a pressing issue in the village of Pares.<\/p>

Wehner, who remains vocal about the needs of the community, was on the ground today calling for immediate action to resolve a water crisis that has plagued the area since the election. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted that many residents have been without access to running water for several days, relying on the limited water available from the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA). <\/p>

With the APUA advising locals to store water, the situation is becoming increasingly dire for those without water catchment systems.<\/p>

Standing near a catchment structure plastered with posters of the newly elected Member of Parliament for St. Peter, Mr. Turner, Wehner stressed the importance of action over symbolism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He pointed out that while the structure bears the MP\u2019s image, it has been left neglected, with exposed and unmaintained parts that could provide much-needed relief to the community.<\/p>

\u201cI urge Mr. Turner to work with the Ministry of Works to clean and restore this catchment,\u201d Wehner said. \u201cThe village of PE is in need of water, and this catchment could alleviate the hardship many are facing. The community deserves more than empty promises.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wenner, known for his persistent advocacy, called on Turner to use his position to ensure that the water supply issues are resolved. \u201cWater is the liquid of life, and we can only survive a few days without it. The villagers of Pares need water now, not just a face on a poster,\u201d Wehner added.<\/p>
