Pringle Pledges to Name UPP Candidates Amid Previous Delays<\/strong><\/p>

Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle has committed to announcing the United Progressive Party’s (UPP) slate of 16 candidates “in short order,” despite prior setbacks in unveiling the party\u2019s representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a rally in Pares on Tuesday night, Pringle said the UPP campaign would continue beyond the upcoming by-election in St. Peter on January 14. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He urged voters to elect George Wehner, the party\u2019s candidate, and described the vote as a crucial step toward bringing change to the constituency.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe UPP train is on the move, and this train will continue to move throughout Antigua and Barbuda after this election,\u201d Pringle told supporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pringle had previously pledged to reveal 10 UPP candidates on two occasions. In October 2024, he announced plans for an initial unveiling but postponed the decision, citing personal matters. <\/p>

A second promise to present candidates at a rally in Parham earlier this month also went unfulfilled, leading to questions about the party\u2019s readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the delays, Pringle assured voters that the UPP is prepared for both the by-election and the next general election, with a vision to address infrastructure issues, improve healthcare, and promote transparency in governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Political analysts and supporters are now waiting for the announcement of the full slate of candidates as the UPP aims to challenge the governing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) in the next election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
