\u201cWe are working to help farmers create water catchments and establish ponds suitable for raising tilapia.\u201d<\/p>

The Prime Minister revealed that the pilot phase of the project will be led by Dr. Leandro, who has already been involved in developing successful integrated farming models. The government plans to identify farmers with suitable land and water sources to join the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tilapia farming has gained traction in Antigua, with some farms already showcasing impressive results. The Prime Minister highlighted his own farm as an example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is also focused on ensuring the sustainability of water resources used for aquaculture. \u201cThe first priority for any successful farming venture in a water-scarce country like Antigua is establishing a reliable water infrastructure,\u201d the Prime Minister explained.<\/p>

The initiative aligns with the government\u2019s push to reduce reliance on food imports while creating local agricultural opportunities. \u201cWe want this project to grow into a nationwide program,\u201d Browne said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
