At a UPP rally in St. Peter on Thursday night, St. George MP Algernon \u201cSerpent\u201d Watts dismissed claims by the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) that their candidate, Rawdon Turner, represents the legacy of the late Asot Michael. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watts accused the ruling party of exploiting Michael\u2019s name for political gain while failing to deliver for the constituency during his tenure.<\/p>

Watts criticized the ABLP\u2019s attempts to link Turner\u2019s campaign to Michael\u2019s long-standing service to St. Peter, calling it a cynical ploy to secure votes. <\/p>

\u201cThey have the audacity to claim Asot Michael\u2019s legacy while forgetting how they discarded him when he was no longer convenient,\u201d Watts charged, highlighting the fractured relationship between Michael and the ABLP leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further condemned the ABLP\u2019s neglect of the constituency, stating that Michael was the only one who consistently stood in the gap for the people of St. Peter while the party leadership turned a blind eye to their needs.<\/p>

\u201cWhere was Rawdon Turner when the people of St. Peter were crying out for roads and better living conditions? Nowhere to be found,\u201d Watts asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watts argued that the ABLP\u2019s abandonment of Michael after years of loyal service exemplifies the party\u2019s disregard for both its members and constituents.<\/p>

\u201cWhen they decided Asot Michael was no longer useful, they discarded him like yesterday\u2019s news. Now, they want to invoke his name as if they cared about his legacy,\u201d he said, urging voters not to be misled.<\/p>

The St. George MP also questioned the credibility of Turner\u2019s campaign, describing it as a desperate attempt to capitalize on Michael\u2019s popularity without offering any real solutions for the constituency\u2019s issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe people of St. Peter are not stupid. They see through this manipulation,\u201d Watts declared, rallying support for UPP candidate George Wehner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watts concluded by calling on St. Peter voters to honor Michael\u2019s legacy by rejecting the ABLP\u2019s tactics and demanding genuine representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis by-election is not just about filling a seat\u2014it\u2019s about fighting for a better future. The ABLP wants your vote but doesn\u2019t deserve it,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
