The Customs Division has reported a record-breaking year for collections, surpassing the half-billion-dollar mark in 2024 with total revenues amounting to EC$502.6 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comptroller of Customs, Raju Boddu, described the milestone as a “<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n\n\n\n

historic achievement,” noting that it reflects a significant increase from the 2023 total of EC$402.5 million. This represents a rise of EC$100.1 million or a 24.78% growth in collections.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in the year, Boddu attributed the surge in revenues to increased economic activity within the country, along with improved collection methods at the port, which serves as the division\u2019s primary source of income. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, a two-percent increase in the Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST) implemented in 2024 also contributed to the higher revenues.<\/p>

Boddu has consistently emphasized that the Customs Division could achieve even greater collections if there were fewer tax waivers and reductions in concessions.<\/p>\n
