The government of Antigua and Barbuda is set to make transformative investments in education, healthcare, and sustainable development in 2025, Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced in his New Year\u2019s address. These initiatives aim to enhance public services, empower citizens, and position the nation for long-term growth.<\/p>

A $200 million investment has been allocated to expand the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus, creating new opportunities for higher education. Browne emphasized the importance of fostering a knowledge-based society to ensure global competitiveness and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis investment will create additional opportunities for higher education, critical to our nation\u2019s development,\u201d he said.<\/p>

The government plans to expand healthcare services with the establishment of a cardiac unit and a specialized renal transplant facility. In addition, the Cancer Centre will be re-equipped and reopened, providing access to new cancer treatments and therapies.<\/p>

\u201cThese advancements in healthcare reflect our commitment to improving the quality of life for all our people,\u201d Browne stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stem cell therapies and other cutting-edge medical treatments will also be expanded, further modernizing the country\u2019s healthcare offerings.<\/p>

Sustainable Land Development<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sustainable development policies will focus on providing more land for housing and tourism-related projects. Locals will have access to beachfront and waterfront lots for constructing Airbnb properties, small hotels, and marinas. Key areas identified for development include Pensioners Beach, Willoughby Bay, Shell Beach, Jolly Beach, and Goat Island in Barbuda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese opportunities are designed to expand domestic ownership in the hospitality sector and promote robust growth through local direct investments,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>
