Former Commissioner of Police Rawlston Pompey has questioned the lack of public updates from the police\u2019s Strategic Communications (STRATCOM) unit regarding high-profile murder cases involving law enforcement officers as suspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pompey\u2019s comments, made during an appearance on Antigua Newsroom<\/em>, highlighted two unresolved cases:<\/p>

The murder of Mannie James<\/strong>, in which a police constable and a private soldier have reportedly been implicated but remain uncharged.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The killing of Yenifer Bridges<\/strong>, whose body was found on Fig Tree Drive under suspicious circumstances, hours after her infant son was discovered abandoned in bushes along Jonas Road. A police officer and his civilian brother are alleged to have links to the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pompey expressed concern over what he described as “apparent deliberate delays” in these investigations and questioned whether STRATCOM would address the issue in 2025.<\/p>

STRATCOM, responsible for managing police communications, has been criticised for its perceived silence on cases involving police officers. While recent arrests in other cases have been publicised, questions remain about the transparency of investigations involving law enforcement personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pompey\u2019s remarks come as police announced charges against Mishkah John, a 33-year-old from Yorks, in connection with the 16 December murder of Javaughn Joseph. The victim succumbed to injuries sustained during a shooting outside a nightclub on Redcliffe Street.<\/p>

Pompey has called for equal transparency in cases where law enforcement officers are under investigation.<\/p>
