The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) is gearing up for the January 14, 2025, by-election in the St Peter\u2019s constituency, following the tragic death of former MP Hon. Asot A. Michael.<\/p>

ABEC Public Relations Officer Elisa Graham confirmed key dates, including the issuance of the writ of election today, December 23, and Nomination Day on December 31. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Candidates must secure 10 registered supporters from St Peter\u2019s and pay a $500 nomination fee.<\/p>

Returning Officer Steven Samuels was sworn in last week, and ABEC will begin training election workers in early 2025. <\/p>

Graham noted that voters must have registered by November 2024 to be eligible, with provisions in place for those with expired ID cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Challenges to the voter register are open until January 6, with the final list expected on January 10.<\/p>
