The Senate has passed the 2024 Appropriation Bill after an intense debate, with Leader of Government Business Shenella Govia using her wrap-up remarks to defend the government\u2019s performance and highlight key achievements.<\/p>

She pointed to the government\u2019s Land Empowerment Program (LEP), which provides affordable land to citizens, and the Prime Minister\u2019s Scholarship program, which supports 1,752 students, including those studying tuition-free at the University of the West Indies Five Islands campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The senator dismissed accusations of inadequate support for education, pointing to an increase in technical training and scholarships in priority fields such as tourism and STEM subjects.<\/p>
