Ministry of Works to Boost Workforce and Launch Training in 2025<\/strong><\/p>

During his contribution to the 2025 Budget Debate, Senator Clement Antonio outlined plans by the Ministry of Works to expand its workforce and implement training initiatives aimed at enhancing the nation\u2019s infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’re increasing our road gangs to offer better coverage to ensure that the work is done in a timely manner,” Senator Antonio stated.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He added that the ministry is also “introducing the Zone inspectors to the Ministry of Works to eliminate the burden on engineers in the first quarter of 2025.”<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

To address a shortage of skilled workers, Senator Antonio announced plans for an accredited programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In 2025, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, we are implementing an accredited program to train heavy-duty equipment operators,” he said.<\/p>

Highlighting the government\u2019s continued focus on innovation, he revealed that a new digital tool would be introduced next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Ministry of Works will launch the Report-a-Pothole app, which will facilitate efficient road maintenance and allow an interactive interface for the Ministry of Works and the users of the app\u2014that is, the general public.”<\/p>

Senator Antonio also acknowledged the ministry’s efforts to modernise public infrastructure through a $21 million investment in equipment to accelerate progress. “We have invested over $21 million to bring equipment here so that we can get work going to improve the infrastructure of this country,” he said.<\/p>
