The Antigua and Barbuda Port Authority has paid staff bonuses alongside regular salaries, marking a milestone in the agency’s financial turnaround.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Mary-Claire Hurst, who also serves as Chairperson of the Port Authority, made the announcement on Tuesday while debating the 2025 Appropriation Bill in the Senate.<\/p>

She described the bonuses as a reflection of the institution\u2019s improved fiscal performance and operational efficiency.<\/p>

\u201cYesterday, we paid bonuses, and we\u2019re also paying salaries,\u201d Hurst stated, attributing the achievement to teamwork and sound financial management. \u201cIt has not been easy, but we are now at a stage where we can do both.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Senator credited the authority\u2019s success to its workforce, management, and directors. \u201cWithout them, there is no me,\u201d she said, extending her gratitude to those who have worked to transform the organization.<\/p>

Hurst praised the government\u2019s fiscal strategies, which she said have bolstered employment and economic activity.<\/p>
