The decision was taken after Esme Stevens underwent a colonoscopy at a private medical clinic and subsequently died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\u00a0Tuesday Health Minister Molwyn Joseph announced an amendment to the law governing medical practitioners and especially the creation of a Disciplinary Committee.<\/p>

The Minister of Health proposed the mandatory replacement of doctors on the Committee by a retired judge, nurse or other professionals capable of making sound judgments on the basis of experience and knowledge. <\/p>

The first reading of the amended law is likely to come before Parliament next Thursday when the elective body re-convenes.<\/p>\n
