A Chinese benefactor has pledged to donate 10 electric vehicles to Antigua and Barbuda, bolstering preparations for the 55th Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly, scheduled for June 2025. <\/p>

The vehicles, selected by government officials during a recent visit to China, will arrive in batches of two and are expected to be ready in time for the prestigious event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe first two should very likely be here before June of 2025,\u201d Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst stated during the post-cabinet press conference.<\/p>

He said that the electric vehicles will be used by the government to transport officials and dignitaries attending the OAS General Assembly.<\/p>

Hurst highlighted the importance of this donation, facilitated during a recent trip to China led by himself and Minister of Health Sir Molwyn Joseph. The visit included meetings with influential Chinese entrepreneurs and institutions, strengthening ties between Antigua and Barbuda and key partners abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe selected the vehicle model that will make up the 10 that will be shipped to Antigua,\u201d Hurst explained, noting the benefactor\u2019s commitment to delivering environmentally friendly vehicles. <\/p>

The government expects the donation to enhance logistics for the OAS General Assembly while promoting green energy initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OAS General Assembly is anticipated to bring leaders, foreign ministers, and officials from across the Americas to Antigua and Barbuda. The donation of electric vehicles not only aids in hosting the event but also reflects the nation\u2019s growing emphasis on sustainability and modernization.<\/p>
