I hope this message finds you well. A former trainee who was part of LIAT’s recent Cabin Crew recruitment process wishes to share their experience, which sheds light on several challenges and frustrations encountered during this time. With the recent media attention surrounding the airline, they believe it is important to bring these issues to light for a broader understanding of the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being selected for training, the trainee and several others faced significant delays, with training frequently being put on hold for extended periods. The explanation given for these delays was that aircraft parts were \u201con sea,\u201d leading to long stretches of inactivity. During this time, communication from the airline was minimal, leaving trainees uncertain about when, or if, the training would resume.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of several months, many trainees struggled financially, as they were not being paid and had little to no clarity about their future with the airline. Faced with mounting pressures, many were ultimately forced to leave the training program. The lack of financial support and clear updates made it increasingly difficult for trainees to continue, and in many cases, LIAT appeared to find arbitrary or unjustifiable reasons to allow trainees to depart.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t until the situation gained media attention that the Human Resources Manager finally reached out to express empathy. However, trainees were informed that, due to “insufficient resources,” the airline could not offer alternative roles or support. This response came after months of waiting without communication, leaving many trainees feeling abandoned and unsupported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these issues, trainees were reportedly encouraged to remain silent about the conditions and challenges they faced during their training. The company\u2019s apparent request for confidentiality created an atmosphere of fear and discomfort, with trainees feeling pressured not to speak out about the unfair treatment, lack of support, or favoritism they experienced. This silencing of concerns further compounded the sense of frustration and disillusionment among the group.<\/p>

Furthermore, throughout the training process, there were clear signs of favoritism, with some trainees receiving preferential treatment while others who spoke up or raised concerns were often sidelined or dismissed. This uneven treatment left many questioning the fairness and integrity of the entire process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it is understood that every company faces operational challenges, the lack of transparency, communication, and fairness during the recruitment and training process was a significant source of frustration for many trainees. The pressure to remain silent about these issues only added to the feeling of being disregarded by the airline.<\/p>

By sharing this story, the former trainee hopes to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by applicants and encourage LIAT to reassess its approach to communication, transparency, and employee support in the future.
