I am a concerned employee at the General Post Office of Antigua and Barbuda, stationed at the All Saints Sub-office. I am tired and fed up with the poor working conditions of our building. For years, we have been fighting for a new facility, yet every day the same issues persist. What frustrates me the most is the lack of support from our supervisor, who fails to stand up for us when we demand better conditions. I believe he needs proper training on how to effectively advocate for his team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are all one team, but it feels like he\u2019s not putting his best foot forward. I have seen other supervisors at the All Saints Sub-office perform their duties without needing extra help, but this one struggles to even get to work on time because he has a night job. When he does show up, it seems like he can\u2019t handle the pressure.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

About a month ago, we had a meeting where it was decided that All Saints workers would sort mail at the Head Office, then report to the All Saints Sub-office just to collect and deliver mail before returning downtown the next day due to the building’s poor condition. However, in a subsequent meeting, some staff chose to stay at All Saints in those same poor conditions, while the rest stayed downtown, only going to All Saints when there was mail to deliver.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

How can we achieve better working conditions when some of our colleagues are willing to continue working in that same building we\u2019re trying to avoid? To the people of Antigua, if you came inside the All Saints Sub-office and saw the state of the building, you\u2019d be shocked. The roof leaks, tiles are broken, there are drums of water lying around, the bathrooms are inadequate, and the sorting desk is a disgrace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supervisor, just as you push staff to do their jobs, put the same energy into pressuring higher authorities. We are not dogs! You must advocate for us until real changes are made.<\/p>

Mr. Molwyn Joseph, Mr. Gaston Browne, I am calling on you to address this matter urgently. The General Post Office of Antigua and Barbuda needs a complete overhaul, starting with the higher authorities. Favoritism and neglect have plagued this institution for too long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To my fellow Antiguans, remember: our health comes first. Working under these conditions is unacceptable, and we deserve better.<\/p>
