Dear Editor<\/p>

It would be remiss of me not to wish Paul Quinn, our well loved radio host, a speedy recovery coupled with God’s guidance & His richest blessings. Sickness & death do not discriminate. Either one may come knocking on our door at anytime and when we least expect it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this sametime, I am also empathizing with Paul’s family concerning the pressures that they are presently enduring in order to get their love one back on the road of recovery. Interestingly, I have had my personal experience of having a love one in a similar position, so I do understand what they are faced with.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Paul is an Antiguan and inspite of his political persuasion, he is a human being who deserves whatever help he can get from whoever, now that he’s in distress.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Now, with that been said, I was amazed to hear a report on air of the immediate response and help the family got from the govt, who was instrumental in flying in a specialist surgeon from Trinidad to deal with Paul’s situation, thus causing his sister to openly extend on air, gratitude from their family. Instantly it rose a flag of concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Certainly, I must say thumbs up to the govt to extend such profound courtesies and also to Paul’s sister for reciprocating to the Govt, the family’s gratitude. The govt is not only for the RED but they are also a govt for the BLUE, the GREEN and the ORANGE. However, I am left to wonder if such ” swift & quality help ” offered by the Gov’t, is only extended to a certain class of persons in our society.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, I am forced to ask if there is a  different criteria set out for the ordinary and common person compared with the criteria set out for the prominent person in our society, for getting such courtesies extended from the govt?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several months ago, I can recall reading an article about a young lady who was PLEADING for assistance from the Govt concerning her state of affairs of alledgely ending up paralyzed from a delivery of her baby.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In addition, there was another case where overseas help was needed for a patient who had allegedly developed complications from a surgery done locally and the said patient was left on their own to incur all expenses for the medical attention they needed. To this day, the patient got no financial or moral support from the Gov’t or MBS. Sad!<\/p>

Now, if we consider ourselves as an Economic Powerhouse, the govt needs to be very mindful that the products and services that they offer to its citizens & residents should be offered to everyone equally across the board and not to only just for a selective few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
