Although the\nofficial observance of World Food Day was held on 16th<\/sup> October, Antigua\nand Barbuda has organized a number of other activities to further highlight the\nimportance of the annual event.<\/p>

Extension\nOfficer at the Agriculture Extension Division within the Ministry of\nAgriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs, Mr. Owolabi Elabanjo said that two\npanel discussions are slated for November 13th<\/sup> and 19th <\/sup>at\nthe Multipurpose Cultural Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elabanjo\nnoted that he is looking forward to the panel discussions as the Ministry of\nAgriculture seeks to push the importance of better food production and security\nfor all.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The first\nforum on the 13TH <\/sup>will be held on the topic, \u201cThe future of Food and\nNutrition Security in Antigua and Barbuda.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The panel will\ncomprise representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture, Education, Finance,\nTourism and Health along with IICA and CARDI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second\npublic discussion will look at \u201cHow to make Antigua and Barbuda Hunger Free by\n2030.\u201d <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

This panel will\nattract Ministry of Agriculture Representatives, farmers, traders, hotels and\ntourism association and school meals personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two other\nevents which are also expected to be held in recognition of World Food Day are an\nEssay Writing and Graphic Representation competition for Primary and Secondary\nSchool students and a Seedling Production\/Distribution Programme. <\/p>

 Some 10,000 Seedlings will be distributed to\nthe most vulnerable and schools in Antigua and Barbuda for food production at\nthe backyard level.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Essay\nWriting and Graphic Representation competition is open to Grades three \u2013 six\nPrimary School Students and Forms three \u2013 four Secondary School students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Essay\nmust be no more than 250 words and must be accompanied by a graphic or drawing\nof the representation.\n\nEntries should be submitted to the Permanent\nSecretary\u2019s Office of the Ministry of Agriculture by end of school day on or\nbefore Friday 30th November\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n
