\u00a0<\/strong>Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s delegation, led by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, has arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the opening of COP29, the 29th annual Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), running from November 11 to 22, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanying Prime Minister Browne are Tumasie Blair, Deputy Permanent Representative of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Nations, Climate Change Ambassador Ruleta Camacho, Director of the Department of Environment Diann Black-Layne, and technical experts from the Department of Environment Arry Simon, Gita Gardner and Garth Simon. AOSIS Fellow Carlon Knight is also in attendance. Their presence underscores Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s dedication to advocating for critical climate finance solutions that address the urgent needs of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).<\/p>

A primary goal of COP29 is establishing a New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) on climate finance, aiming to exceed the current $100 billion annual pledge and mobilize resources for enhanced climate adaptation and resilience in vulnerable regions.<\/p>
