POINTE XPRESS: Kenisha Whyte, valedictorian of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus Lifelong Learning Unit\u2019s 2024 graduating class, celebrated her achievements and thanked her supporters. <\/p>

An inmate at His Majesty\u2019s Prison (HMP), Whyte excelled through UWI\u2019s Seeds of Hope Programme, which grants scholarships to inmates. Launched in 2021, this program promotes rehabilitation through education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her speech, Whyte reflected on the challenges of studying with limited time and confronting stigma, describing education as a path to transformation.<\/p>

\u201cI am a symbol of resilience and the power of education,\u201d she said, attributing her success to the Lifelong Learning Unit and HMP\u2019s commitment to rehabilitation.<\/p>

Sixteen HMP residents graduated this year, with Dr. Curtis Charles commending them for their perseverance, and Paula C.M. Lee noting that 346 students received certificates, with Brittney Gomes earning the Harvard Credential of Readiness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whyte achieved top marks in Cyber Security and Strategic Human Resource Management, with a 94% average.<\/p>
