Prime Minister Browne highlighted the collaboration with Jamaican Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton, to advance mental health policies across the Caribbean. This initiative, which gained momentum during CARICOM discussions, now seeks a broader platform through the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the UN.<\/p>

The draft resolution, intended to enhance mental health support, will be shared with UN officials in the coming week for consultation. Prime Minister Browne indicated that both WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and PAHO Director Dr. Jarbas Barbosa have expressed support for the proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMental health remains an urgent issue affecting people globally, with significant stigma still surrounding it,\u201d Browne stated. \u201cThis initiative aims to de-stigmatize mental health, encouraging people to recognize it as a serious issue that impacts four in every ten individuals.\u201d<\/p>
