Teachers and kids\u2019 club leaders are\ninvited to sign up for free activity sessions next week which aim to take\nyoungsters on a fun-packed, virtual journey through Antigua & Barbuda.<\/p>

From crosswords to colouring, comprehension\nto anagrams, children will have the chance to learn more about the twin\nislands\u2019 history and culture through a set of engaging activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sessions are suitable for grades\ntwo to six and are being conducted by primary school teacher Irene Danics,\nco-author of children\u2019s guidebook \u2018Explore Antigua & Barbuda\u2019. The\nfully-illustrated 80-page book was published last year and offers youngsters and\nvisitors a snapshot of life here through the ages. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Danics has now created a supplement\nactivity booklet bursting with captivating exercises on a variety of topics including\ngeography, history through the centuries, national heroes, wildlife, indigenous\nmusic, culture and food.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe\nsessions will complement work being done in local classrooms and show how our\nbooks can be used as an additional resource for educators and provide them with\nextra tools to teach local material,\u201d Danics explained. \u201cAnd\nwhat better time to commemorate everything that makes Antigua & Barbuda unique\nthan just after independence celebrations?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-author and Antigua-based\njournalist Gemma Handy will also be present to give a brief segment on writing\narticles for media.<\/p>
