The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has outlined a clear schedule aimed at addressing previous concerns raised by the opposition regarding the limited time to review the national budget. <\/p>

In past years, opposition members had criticized the process, claiming they were not given enough time to study the budget before the parliamentary debate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, however, the government has taken steps to ensure that both opposition and government members will have nearly two weeks to review the 2025 budget. <\/p>

According to the Government\u2019s Chief of Staff, the finalized budget document will be sent to the printers on November 14, 2024, and distributed to parliamentarians on November 28, 2024. <\/p>

The budget debate is scheduled to begin on December 10, 2024, five days after Prime Minister Gaston Browne is set to present the budget to Parliament on December 5, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government believes this timeline provides sufficient opportunity for the opposition to review the detailed 500-page document.<\/p>

The Chief of Staff highlighted that this effort should address past complaints and ensure that all parliamentarians have an equal opportunity to participate meaningfully in the budget discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
