PM Browne Announces $35 Million Road Infrastructure Project for Barbuda<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has unveiled an ambitious $35 million road infrastructure project aimed at significantly improving the road networks across Barbuda. <\/p>

Speaking at the official opening of the new Barbuda International Airport, Browne highlighted the government\u2019s commitment to ensuring that the island\u2019s infrastructure matches its growing economic potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is being funded by the Caribbean Development Bank, and according to the Prime Minister, the funds have already been secured. \u201cWe are not just making promises; we have the money in hand. <\/p>

This $35 million investment will be the first step in upgrading Barbuda\u2019s roadways, which is critical as we continue to build out the island\u2019s infrastructure,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>

While acknowledging that the funds will not be enough to cover all the roads in Barbuda, Browne revealed that the government has partnered with the Peace Love and Happiness (PLH) project to ensure the island\u2019s road development is fully realized. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBeyond the initial funding, 50% of the transfer taxes collected from PLH will be dedicated to further road construction,\u201d he added, signaling the government\u2019s intention to invest an additional $50 million in Barbuda’s road network over the next few years.<\/p>

The Prime Minister emphasized that these road improvements are crucial for the ongoing development of the island, particularly in light of the luxury tourism and real estate projects currently underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are positioning Barbuda to become a high-end, sustainable island destination, and infrastructure like modern roadways is essential to making that vision a reality,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>

The government expects to begin significant work on the road project in 2025, marking a new phase of development for the island.<\/p>

Browne also assured residents that this investment would create jobs and improve transportation, helping to further integrate Barbuda into Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s economic framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With several other projects, including luxury resorts and a new seaport facility, already in the pipeline, this road infrastructure plan forms a central part of the administration\u2019s broader vision to transform Barbuda into a self-sustaining and prosperous community.<\/p>\n
