At the opening of the Barbuda International Airport, Browne addressed accusations that the development was unsustainable and lacked proper consultation with the local council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe airport project has faced baseless opposition and frivolous lawsuits,\u201d Browne said. \u201cThese legal challenges only serve to waste resources that could be used for further development.\u201d<\/p>

Browne noted that his government has always engaged in consultations and had made every effort to address concerns. However, he stressed that when cooperation was not forthcoming, his administration would continue to push forward with development in Barbuda to ensure the island\u2019s prosperity.<\/p>

Prime Minister Browne laid out a bold vision for Barbuda, positioning the island as a future economic powerhouse capable of generating significant revenues independently. Speaking at the opening of the Barbuda International Airport, Browne said that with the right investments, Barbuda could soon become a net contributor to the state treasury, moving away from reliance on Antigua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want Barbuda to be self-sufficient, and this airport is key to unlocking that potential,\u201d Browne said. \u201cI believe within the next five years, Barbuda could be generating $100 million annually in taxes.\u201d<\/p>
