SEVERAL PERSONS IN POLICE CUSTODY FOR ILLEGAL FIREARM, AMMUNITION AND DRUGS<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several persons are in police custody after they were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and cannabis.<\/p>

On Thursday, September 26, police executed a search warrant on a property at Liberta and seized one 9mm firearm and several rounds of ammunition, along with a portion of cannabis. Four persons were arrested and taken into custody for questioning.<\/p>

Meanwhile, two residents of Clark’s Hill were also arrested and taken into custody on Thursday, after the police searched their home and found over 100 rounds of different caliber ammunition, and a quantity of cannabis in their possession.<\/p>

They are also being questioned by the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1st January 2024 to present, the police have confiscated 47 illegal firearms and over 400 rounds of ammunition from off the streets. <\/p>

Within the same period, several persons have been arrested and charged for firearm-related offences and taken before the court. Many of them were convicted and fined or sentenced to prison.<\/p>

The police have promised to continue intensifying their crime-fighting measures in an effort to rid the streets of illegal firearms and keep crime under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
