Dear Editor<\/p>

Today, what we see happening with the UPP and its members leaving their party one by one, is certainly not a surprise. In fact,  over the past few years they were forewarned if changes were not made at the top of their organization, then it would be inevitable that the party will implode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to one of our great calypsonians or well known social commentator mentioned in one of his songs that ” WHEN THE TOP IS SLACK, THE BOTTOM WILL BE SLACK ALSO “. At the time, the quote was perhaps not applicable to UPP but certainly, it is now, thus we are seeing a disintegration of the UPP political party.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In addition when an organization such as UPP thrives on nepotism, favoritism, lies, bitterness, vendetta as their main mantra to accomplish their political goals then at some point the organization must fail.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

At the moment, it is a disgrace and an embarrassment to witness an official opposition political party crumbling in such a manner, as what is happening now. Yet still, the nation is not seeing any strategic move by the opposition to bring about a change or rectify the situation. Soon, we will be seeing many more members resigning including the chairperson who may have to resign from a VOTE of NO CONFIDENCE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opposition party needs to get its act together. After the 1971 – 1976 cohort, the opposition has not gotten the right chemistry or ingredients together to make themselves a force to reckon with against the Labour party. They’ve tried UNDP, LUMP, FAITHFUL NATIONALS etc but they have all failed.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Be that as it is, I am of the view that the migration of these UPP members who are now joining ABLP should not be taken lightly by the Labour party hierarchy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the movement clearly shows to the populace that ABLP is doing something right for the nation. Numbers is also critical. However, the ABLP hierarchy should put themselves on guard because these new members who were once stalwart members of UPP will be bringing across their UPP philosophical beliefs & doctrines to the table, which can certainly cause a conflict of interest thus resulting in a sway away from the ABLP indeginous “people’s first ” philosophy.<\/p>

We all know of the cliche that a leopard cannot change its spots. Then can a stalwart supporter of UPP change what’s in his heart? It is only time will tell and to see whether or not that the movement of the UPP members to ABLP is for personal opportunities, nation development or to use ABLP as a vehicle to seek revenge to the political party that they once belong to.<\/p>
