A Jamaican woman and her adult son are currently in the custody of Immigration officials in Antigua and Barbuda for breaching the country’s Passport and Immigration laws.<\/p>

Sanjaye Kemar Morgan, the son, was initially detained for being in the country illegally. <\/p>

However, he escaped from lawful custody around 6:00 a.m. on Sunday while being held at the immigration detention center on the Sir George Walter Highway, awaiting a court appearance. <\/p>

His time on the run was brief, as authorities recaptured him a few hours later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the search for Morgan, Immigration officials also detained his mother, Susan Stephenson, who has been residing in Antigua and Barbuda illegally since 2020 without regularizing her status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An immigration official warned that those who assist individuals evading immigration authorities will face the full force of the law. <\/p>

Both Stephenson and Morgan are scheduled to appear in court on Monday ahead of their deportation hearings.<\/p>
