Speaking on Pointe FM, Prime Minister Browne expressed his hope for widespread involvement, including from the opposition. He highlighted the potential benefits of such participation, noting that it provides an opportunity for learning and collaboration on important issues facing the nation.<\/p>

However, Browne also expressed skepticism about the opposition’s willingness to engage, suggesting that they may opt to boycott the event. Reflecting on his own time as leader of the opposition, Browne pointed out that he never boycotted national events, despite having disagreements with the then-governing party. He shared a personal anecdote from just before the 2014 general elections, where he made a significant effort to attend a national event, even though he had other pressing commitments.<\/p>

“I don\u2019t believe in boycotts,” Browne stated. “When you participate, it\u2019s also a learning experience. If we have a conference, for example, dealing with an issue like climate change, and we have experts sharing their experiences, why not participate?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to criticize the opposition’s strategy of boycotting events and continuously attacking political leaders. He argued that such tactics have become ineffective, especially when they fail to engage in meaningful discussions or learning opportunities. Browne noted that the opposition’s persistent criticism of him had reached a peak just before the 2023 general elections, during a time when the country was facing significant challenges, including high living costs and water issues.<\/p>
