Antigua and Barbuda’s performance has shown stability, with results comparable to the previous year and slightly surpassing the regional average in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination.<\/p>

Myrick Smith, the country\u2019s CXC registrar, reported that the overall pass rate for Antigua in 2024 was 74.6 per cent, a slight decrease from last year’s 75.4 per cent. This performance is marginally better than the regional average pass rate of 69.05 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith noted that the percentage pass rate might change as some students have yet to finalize their grades or resolve issues that led to ungraded results.<\/p>

Regarding subject-specific results, Smith highlighted that many areas performed well, with most subjects achieving pass rates above 70 per cent.<\/p>

\u201cSo quite a number of the subject areas had percentage passes that are in the 70s and 80s,\u201d he said. However, he pointed out significant drops in certain subjects, such as geography, which fell to 36.7 per cent from last year\u2019s 48.72 per cent, and French, which decreased to 39.8 per cent from 51.4 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For English, Antigua and Barbuda achieved an average pass rate of 82.8 per cent in 2024, surpassing the regional average of 76.3 per cent. This represents a slight improvement from last year\u2019s 81.8 per cent. (LOOP)<\/p>
