Venezuelans gathered outside the Holy Family Cathedral in Michael\u2019s Mount on Saturday to participate in a special mass, offering prayers for peace, justice, and democracy in their homeland.<\/p>

Background:<\/strong> On Saturday, August 17, the Venezuelan opposition, led by the Democratic Unitary Platform, organized national and international protests to challenge the electoral results of July 28, which declared Nicol\u00e1s Maduro of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) as the winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, called the \u201cGreat World Protest For The Truth,\u201d urged participants to bring their voting records (the actas) to the protest sites. The National Campaign Command of Mar\u00eda Corina Machado and Edmundo Gonz\u00e1lez reported that mobilizations took place in more than 115 cities.<\/p>
