UPP Attorney Kenny Kentish Discusses Party\u2019s Stance on Voter Validation Process<\/strong><\/p>

Kenny Kentish, attorney for the United Progressive Party (UPP), today addressed the party\u2019s position regarding the ongoing voter validation process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UPP has decided not to launch an immediate legal challenge to the validation process, despite concerns about potential irregularities.<\/p>

Kentish emphasized that the party has had extensive discussions with its legal team and consultations with election observers. <\/p>

The decision to refrain from challenging the validation was made with a focus on ensuring that no voter is disenfranchised during the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our primary concern is the protection of voters’ rights and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process,” Kentish stated.<\/p>

The UPP plans to closely monitor the validation process and take instructions from those involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kentish stressed that if serious irregularities are identified, the party will take appropriate action to correct them. “We are committed to maintaining the integrity of this process and will remain vigilant throughout,” he added.<\/p>

The attorney also encouraged voters who may face difficulties during the validation process to reach out to their party representatives for assistance.<\/p>

Kentish expressed disappointment that over 60% of the voting population is currently without valid voter identification, calling the situation “unacceptable” and a failure on the part of the electoral commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the party’s preference was for a full re-registration process, a measure the commission had initially committed to but was ultimately overridden by the Cabinet. Kentish urged all citizens and voters to do everything in their power to obtain their voter cards and ensure they are registered to vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UPP says it will continue to hold regular meetings and gather feedback from the public to monitor the situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
