\u00a0Antigua and\u00a0Barbuda,\u00a0the sailing\u00a0capital\u00a0of the\u00a0Caribbean\u00a0will be the first\u00a0Caribbean\u00a0island to\u00a0host World Sailing\u2019s Paralympic Development\u00a0Program set to begin on January 26, 2019.\u00a0<\/p>

An official\u00a0invitation has been extended to\u00a0Sailability\u00a0Antigua to host the special program\u00a0which\u00a0assists\u00a0in the development of national Para World Sailing training\u00a0programs\u00a0as well as support for Para World Sailors and their coaches through\u00a0a number of\u00a0dedicated performance clinics.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Paralympic Development Program (PDP),\u00a0which will run for two weeks\u00a0at the National Sailing Academy in Falmouth, will see at least 24 persons from 6 countries around the world participating in the program with preference given to female sailors and\/or youths under 19 years old.<\/p>

Parasailing\u00a0was removed\u00a0from the\u00a0Paralympics ostensibly in 2015\u00a0because Parasailing did\u00a0not\u00a0meet the criteria laid out in the International Paralympic Committee Handbook’s minimum criteria for worldwide reach.\u00a0<\/p>

Word Sailing which is\u00a0the\u00a0governing\u00a0body of sailing\u00a0has\u00a0determined that they will develop a Para Sailing development program and are currently hosting the Paralympic in different countries around the world in hopes of reversing the\u00a0decision in\u00a0time for the Paris 2024 PARA Olympics.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
