In a recent parliamentary address, Smith detailed his decision to resign from the United Progressive Party (UPP) and serve as an Independent Member of the House. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that this move was necessary due to fundamental changes within the party and his desire to act in the best interests of his constituents.<\/p>

“The United Progressive Party that I joined four years ago is not the same United Progressive Party that exists today,” Smith said.
