Prime Minister Gaston Browne Urges Young Candidates to Challenge Incumbent Jamale Pringle<\/p>

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has issued a call for young individuals in All Saints East and Saint Luke to step forward and challenge incumbent Jamale Pringle for his seat. <\/p>

During a radio appearance over the weekend, Browne emphasized the importance of youth participation in politics and encouraged those in their 20s to consider running for office.<\/p>

“I don’t know why our people believe that you have to be 40 or 50 to enter politics, or even 30 for that matter,” Browne stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the potential for a young candidate to bring fresh energy and perspective to the constituency. <\/p>

“In Saint Luke, they have another imbecile in Pringle representing that constituency. That’s prime for a young person in their 20s to come forward and say, ‘You know what, I want to challenge him.'”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne encouraged aspiring young politicians to reach out to senior members of the Antigua Labour Party (ALP) for support and guidance. <\/p>

“If there are any in All Saints East and Saint Luke who want to come forward now in their 20s, come and see us. Talk to any senior member of the Labour Party and we will certainly have a discussion with you,” he said.<\/p>

The Prime Minister’s remarks were followed by a discussion highlighting the success of young politicians globally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne referenced the recent election of Sam Carling, who, at 22 years old, became the youngest member of the UK Parliament after defeating a long-standing conservative MP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This young man was just two years old when she entered Parliament, and now he has removed her through the ballot,” Browne noted, emphasizing the potential impact of young candidates. “It’s instructive to support what the Prime Minister is saying in terms of young energy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne also took the opportunity to praise the diversity and inclusiveness within his party, noting that the Labour Party has historically promoted youth, women, and individuals of different ethnicities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He cited examples such as the Foreign Minister, born in Guyana, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Chancellor, both female.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister’s call to action aims to inspire the next generation of leaders to take an active role in shaping the future of Antigua and Barbuda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
