Inaugural Antigua Cup Youth Tournament Set To Kick-Off<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

Sixteen teams \u2013 grouped into four age categories \u2013 will compete in the first annual ANTIGUA CUP INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT from July 7-15, 2024<\/strong> at the Buckley\u2019s Primary School Playing Field, Buckley\u2019s Village, organsiers have announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young Warriors Football Club (YWFC<\/strong>) and its marketing partner, Sports Promotions International (SPI)<\/strong>, have combined to plan and execute this exciting competition for which has attracted overseas and Antigua clubs and teams in the following age-groups: U10, U13, U15 & U17. <\/strong> (See attached flyer).<\/p>

Initially, clubs were invited from England, Europe, the United States and Canada, however, they have opted to participate in next year\u2019s tournament due to pre-arranged commitments.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, a coach from a professional England club, who competes in League One<\/a>, the third level of the English football league system<\/a>, has been invited to coach and scout the players during the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisers say they expect clubs from at least three regional islands take part in this prestigious tournament which will assist in the development and exposure of young talent.<\/p>

YWFC president Colin James says: \u201cwe are confident that this tournament will be a springboard for the furtherance of the development of football in Antigua & Barbuda and the Caribbean as well as excite the imagination young players who will have an opportunity to impress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be four teams per age-group playing on a round-robin basis with the top teams in each group contesting a final. Matches will be played rom 2-6:30pm on match days.<\/p>

Young Warriors Football Club<\/strong>, established in 1990, is dedicated to the development of players in Antigua and Barbuda from ages five to 15 years through our Academy, and also competes in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association Second Division.<\/p>
