along with co-claimant Jim Galloway (now deceased), following picket he staged outside<em> Shoul\u2019s Toys Gifts and Housewares<\/em> store nearby the St John\u2019s Police Station.<br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bird stated that he and Galloway were unlawfully detained at the St. John&#8217;s Police Station for approximately 30 hours.<br\/><\/p><div id=\"antig-2529820437\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue of liability was concluded when the matter came up for trial on 26th March, 2018 upon the primary witness for the Defendant namely Superintendent Alvin Thomas and former Commissioner of Police Vere Brown failed to appear and the Court entered judgment for the Claimant for damages to be assessed. The Court further ordered the following: <br\/><\/p><div id=\"antig-2676808711\" class=\"antig-content antig-entity-placement\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ReggaeInTheParkAntigua\" aria-label=\"lucanio\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:864\/h:1080\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/lucanio.jpeg\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:864\/h:1080\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/lucanio.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:240\/h:300\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/lucanio.jpeg 240w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:819\/h:1024\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/lucanio.jpeg 819w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:768\/h:960\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/lucanio.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The witness statements of Superintendent Alvin Thomas and Former Commissioner of Police Vere Browne are struck out.<\/li><li>Judgment is entered for the Claimant.<\/li><li>The Parties are to file submissions on damages on or before April 30th 2018.<\/li><li>The Registrar is to fix a hearing date for the assessment of damages after the submissions have been filed.<\/li><li>The Claimant is to draw, file and serve this Order.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On his victory, Bird said, \u201cThere are some fine men and women in the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda attempting to do a dangerous job for little pay and even less thanks from the public. However, the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda as an Institution is a corrupt organization starting from the senior officers.\u201d<br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI made a criminal complaint at the Police Headquarters on American road of his conduct towards me on the 15th and 25th January, 2013,\u201d said Bird of officer Thomas.<br\/><\/p><div id=\"antig-728286302\" class=\"antig-content_2 antig-entity-placement\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.com\/antigua\/\" aria-label=\"500X500 (1)\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:500\/h:500\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:500\/h:500\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 500w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:300\/h:300\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:150\/h:150\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo date the police have not investigated the matter even with video and photographic evidence of the Assault and Battery.
