An emergency health and\nsafety closure is now in effect for a section of the Friars Hill Road.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Reinstatement work under\nthe Antigua and Barbuda Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project is now\nunderway and efforts are being made to ensure the safety of road users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The section of the road north of Epicurean Drive and South of\nElectric Avenue<\/strong> (near the power station) will remain closed until at least\nthe weekend for much needed work in an effort to avoid health and safety\nissues. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It is likely that the\nclosure will create some gridlock for drivers who use the road where many\nbusinesses operate but local access will be maintained for business as usual. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The identified diversion\nroute for northbound<\/strong> traffic is Palm\nStreet while southbound<\/strong> traffic\nwould be diverted onto Electric Avenue.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is anticipated that\nthis section of the road would re-open by at least Monday. <\/p>

Road\nusers are urged to exercise extreme caution when traversing in the construction\nsite during the daytime as well as night time especially while the road closure\nin in effect. \n\nWarning\nsigns will be visible for\nall road users who are being asked to proceed with caution for the duration of\nthe road works. No parking is allowed on side road near the construction zone.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n
