The National Coordinating Committee will kick off a major drive this week to create awareness about the November 6 referendum and to ensure that citizens are furnished with the facts about the historic vote.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The youth will yet again take center stage this Wednesday at\na forum targeting millennials or persons between the ages of 18 and 35 to get\ntheir views on the important decision that lies before the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will take place at the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda on\nLong Street starting at 6pm and registration is being done exclusively on the\nTicketing app. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYouth are an\nincredibly important voter demographic. All over the world we are seeing young\npeople creating and leading movements for change.\u00a0So, we wanted to\ncreate spaces that are by and for the young people of Antigua and Barbuda as we\nbelieve they are the catalysts of change. We are so proud to be collaborating\nwith a number of young people and youth groups across the island who share this\nvision and who are lending their voices, resources, and platforms to this\neducational campaign.\u201d stated Youth Chair of the NCC Amaya\nAthill. <\/p>

The youths will hear from and ask\nquestions of History Professor Dr. Natasha Lightfoot, who will join\nby video conference, young attorney, Jeniece St. Romain, former prosecutor and\ncurrent Deputy Registrar Kayode O’marde and teacher Gavin Emmanuel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday\u2019s discussion is a precursor to a Tweetup scheduled\nfor Sunday October 28 in collaboration with The New Grassroots. The live\ndiscussion on Twitter aims to target mainly the users of the popular social\nnetworking service. <\/p>

On Thursday evening another public consultation will be held\nat the Multi-Purpose and Cultural Centre featuring Justin Simon QC, Juno\nSamuel, Anthony Astaphan and Nelisa Spencer. All are invited to attend and\nengage in this public discourse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, the NCC rolls into the communities on its\ninformation train geared mainly at engaging the man on the street with\nimportant information that will help them to determine the choice they will\nmake in the referendum. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is probably the most important phase in our campaign.\nThe community exercise will reach the qualified voters who may not immediately\ngrasp the information but have questions and concerns,\u201d stated Andy Liburd,\nChair of the PR and Media Team. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

So far, the committee has engaged several government\nentities and private sector stakeholders, holding focus group sessions with\nemployees. This effort is a continuous one. \u201cThis too has been quite effective\nas we are able to dialogue with the people on the ground,\u201d Liburd stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meantime, the Antigua and Barbuda Chamber of Commerce and\nIndustry will be holding a Breakfast Session at the Sugar Ridge Resort for its\nmembers. The featured speaker will be well known Barbadian business man Avinash\nPersaud. <\/p>\n
