Roger Ver, a well known early investor in Bitcoin<\/a>, has been released on bail by a Spanish court while he waits to hear if he will be extradited to the United States. According to a Bloomberg<\/a> report, Ver posted around $163,000 in bail on May 17, which then allowed him to leave Spanish jail. He now has to stay in Spain, surrender his passport, and appear in court every two days.<\/p>

On Apr. 30, the U.S. Justice Department announced\u00a0charges<\/a>\u00a0against Ver for mail fraud,\u00a0tax<\/a>\u00a0evasion, and filing false tax returns. Authorities allege that he defrauded the\u00a0Internal Revenue Service<\/a>\u00a0of about $48 million by failing to report capital gains from his sales of Bitcoin (BTC) and other assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
