Prime Minister Gaston Browne alongside Minister of Tourism, The Hon. Charles Fernandez and other Cruise Industry partners met today (Mon) with the executives of Carnival Corporation PLC, the decision makers for Carnival Cruise Lines.<\/p>

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to update the executives on developments being made at the country\u2019s major ports inclusive of the cargo port at the Deep Water Harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Prime Minister\nBrowne the Government of Antigua and Barbuda is committed to expanding and\ndeveloping the island\u2019s Cruise product and this is evident via the major\nfinancial investments being made.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith a one hundred million US\ndollars in investments we obviously need to increase the yield in order to\nservice our loans and we are looking at the possibility of partnering with a\nprivate entity\u201d, stated PM Browne.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He continued that, \u201cif Carnival\nwould like to partner with us, we would like to have those discussions and\nfoster a closer collaboration going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President and CEO of Carnival\nCorporation PLC Mr. Arnold Donald stated that Carnival Cruise Lines is one of\nthe largest to operate in Antigua and Barbuda based on the total number of\nvisitors that are brought to the island.<\/p>

\u201cWe are deeply appreciative of\nthe hospitality that our guests receive; for the opportunity to operate here,\nand we are here today to listen and find out how we can be supportive and\ncontinue to create relationships and developments that will enhance our\nproduct\u201d, Mr. Donald concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After deliberations, Minister of\nTourism, the Hon. Charles Fernandez reported that the discussions were healthy\nand fruitful, and all parties involved committed themselves to a continuous working\nrelationship which would auger well for the industry going forward. <\/p>

The Hon. Tourism Minister noted\nthat these meetings are vital for effective planning where key partners can sit\nand deliberate strategically to make decisions based on what\u2019s best for all\ninvolved.<\/p>
