“Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister Greene Strengthens Ties with Malta on Climate and Maritime Security”<\/strong><\/p>

Honourable E.P Chet Greene, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Trade, and Barbuda Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, visited Malta on April 22nd, 2024, where he was welcomed by Honourable Dr Ian Borg, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Malta.<\/p>\n

Despite their geographical distance, Malta and Antigua and Barbuda, both Small Island States and Commonwealth members, discussed shared environmental challenges and the need for global cooperation on climate issues.<\/p>

They agreed on advocating more for Small Island States’ interests at international forums, including the upcoming 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States in St. John\u2019s and Malta\u2019s participation in COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n

The countries also celebrated their growing bilateral cooperation, particularly in water management during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

They signed the founding document of the Global Maritime Sanctions Information Centre to enhance maritime security globally.<\/p>

During the visit, Minister Greene had courtesy meetings with various Maltese officials, including President Myriam Spiteri Debono and Minister Anton Refalo.<\/p>

He was accompanied by High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill and Minister Counsellor Chantal Phillip from the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London.<\/p>\n
