The Sex Offenders Register Bill (2022), passed in November, aims to reduce sexual reoffending by monitoring convicted sex offenders and sharing their information with relevant authorities.<\/p>

It allows individuals to request confirmation from the Commissioner of Police regarding the sex offender status of a named individual.<\/p>

While public access to this information is permitted, any misuse carries severe penalties, including a fine of $10,000 or imprisonment for three years for obtaining information under false pretences, misusing obtained information, or maliciously disseminating details from the register.<\/p>\n
