Accordingly, all eight Cabinet ministers \u2013 Gaston Browne, Maria Browne, E.P. Chet
\nGreene, Charles \u201cMax\u201d Fernandez, Steadroy \u201cCutie\u201d Benjamin, Molwyn Joseph, Melford
\nNicholas, and Darryl Matthew \u2013 will receive $24,000, each, to cover the Allowance for
\nlast year, 2023.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This hike follows their controversial salary increase of 14 percent \u2013 which our
\nNewsroom broke last Friday, April 5 \u2013 which was backdated to last January, as well.
\nThe sums in back-pay ranged from $19,000-plus for the prime minister to $6,000-plus
\nfor the senators who serve as ministers of state.<\/p>\n

Again, there was no word of this increase in Duty Allowance in this week\u2019s Cabinet
\nNotes or in the post-Cabinet press briefing.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Ironically, the sources tell REAL News, despite Prime Minister Browne\u2019s claim that the
\nincrease in Opposition Members\u2019 salaries had been delayed by a \u201cglitch\u201d in information
\nrelayed from the Parliament, no instructions to pay them has been sent to the Treasury,
\nto date.<\/p>\n

Today, April 12, on an outing on Observer Radio, Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle
\ndescribed Browne\u2019s comments on the 14 percent increase to government ministers as
\nuntruths.<\/p>

He noted that the 2024 Budget Estimates record the same amounts in annual salaries
\nfor parliamentarians as were recorded since 1994, proving that no increase this year \u2013
\nand none for last year \u2013 had been authorized.<\/p>
