Japan’s Grant Funding to Boost Potable Water Availability in Antigua and Barbuda<\/strong><\/p>

The government of Japan has allocated grant funding aimed at enhancing the availability of potable water in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony held at the cabinet conference room, where Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne and Japan’s ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Utaka Matsubara, sealed the deal.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Under this grant program, the government of Japan will facilitate the installation of another reverse osmosis plant at the Ffryes Beach Facility, adding approximately 330,000 gallons per day to the potable water production capacity.<\/p>\n

This new plant complements an existing one that was installed in February 2022, highlighting Japan’s continued support for sustainable development in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

Japanese Ambassador Utaka Matsubara emphasized the significance of this additional grant, citing its importance in addressing water scarcity challenges faced by Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Gaston Browne also highlighted the positive impact of the new plant, stating that it will increase the Ffryes facility’s capacity to produce 1.2 million gallons of water per day.<\/p>

The Minister responsible for water recently approved another reverse osmosis plant for Ffryes, which is set to produce one million gallons of water daily.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This combined effort will significantly boost the country’s water production capacity to 2.2 million gallons per day within the next 12 months, up from 600,000 gallons per day just a few years ago.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Browne envisions a future where water flows abundantly, aiming for a total production capacity of 12 million gallons per day by the end of this year and 15 million gallons per day by the following year.<\/p>\n
