Antigua and Barbuda to participate in the 67th<\/sup> Session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND)<\/strong><\/p>

The Director of the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP), Lt. Col. Edward Croft, will be attending the 67th<\/sup> Session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) which will be held in Vienna, Austria from the 14th<\/sup>-22nd<\/sup> March 2024.<\/p>\n

This meeting is the highest level of decision making on the management of drugs in the international community.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

During the meeting several side events which seek to provide information on specific issues to this international audience, will be convened.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Antigua and Barbuda will participate in two of these events the first of which takes place on Monday 18th<\/sup> March is entitled \u201cThe Role of Early Warning Systems (EWS) as an essential tool for Detecting and responding to Synthetic Drugs\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The second titled, \u201cThe Importance of Developing National Drug Policies for an Effective Program Development\u201d<\/strong> will be held on Wednesday 20th<\/sup> March and is organized by Antigua and Barbuda with the support of the governments of Uruguay, Guyana, El Salvador, Canada and the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission of the Organisation of American States (ES-CICAD\/OAS).<\/p>

The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) was established by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)\u00a0resolution 9(I)<\/a>\u00a0in 1946, to assist the ECOSOC in supervising the application of the international drug control treaties.<\/p>\n

The mandate of the CND is to review and analyze the global drug situation, considering supply and demand reduction. It takes action through resolutions and decisions.<\/p>
