In an address to mark one\nyear since the passage of Hurricane Irma, Barbuda Member of Parliament, Trevor\nWalker has praised the work of charity organisations but lamented the slow pace\nof recovery.<\/p>

\u201cOne year later, over 250\nof our people do not have access to proper education services because the\nrepairs to the daycare center, the pre-school and primary school facilities\nhave not been completed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his video message, Walker also decried the pace at which other important infrastructure projects were managed.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no bank on the\nisland and the hospital which was gutted in an attempt to repair it functions\nonly on a limited basis,\u201d he said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Walker said this was the\nsituation \u201cwhile millions were being spent to build an international airport\nleaving the only functional airport in Cordrington, limited to day light\nflights only.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the MP singled\nout The Waitt Foundation, Red Cross, World Food Programme, Samaritan Purse,\nChinese Government and United Nation Development for acting when the government\nfailed.<\/p>

He said their efforts are\nevident one year later in Barbuda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is the appearance of\nsomething near normal because most of the galvanize sheeting is now back on the\nroofs,\u201d Walker told a video broadcast.<\/p>
